Style Session: Polka Dots on Polka Dots + a WCBC Blog Your Best Conference Recap

A couple weekends ago, I attended the Windy City Blogger 1st annual "Blog Your Best" conference. I was so excited to attend and meet some new and amazing bloggers. Kit and Erin (the founders of WCBC) flattered me by asking me to design the tote bag that would hold all of the goodies. Of course, I said yes! I've loved seeing all of the photos that have popped up on social media featuring the tote.

I was really nervous about what to wear to the event. Does anyone else get like that? I was going to be in a room full of other bloggers, and I really wanted to dress to impress. I ended up going with this fun polka dot printed jumpsuit.

This look turned about to be the perfect solution to what I was looking for, and was a big hit! The material moves and breathes well, which made it ideal for a conference where I was sitting/taking notes most of the day, but still needed to be able to get up to move around and mingle. The rose quartz blazer added a level of class and sophistication to the look. I didn't want to look to "business" since I care more about fashion than what is "office appropriate". This whimsical polka dot on polka dot pattern allowed my style to be both sophisticated and playful. Of course, I had to go with flats. I'm a heel lover as much as the next girl, but when I'm going to be spending the entire day (without cocktails) walking around and mingling...I want to stay friendly. And if my feet are absolutely killing me, then I'm just not going to be that pleasant.

Not to toot my own horn, but didn't the tote bag turn out adorable? I went with "Blogging is my Cardio" so that girls could use these oversized tote bags as stylish gym bags as well. You can buy the matching coffee mug here. I wanted it to be a tote they could use over and over. The conference itself was so much fun! I met so many amazing bloggers, including my darling friend Lauren of LaPetiteFashionista! We had always chatted on social media and we've worked together on promotions...but finally got to meet in person at the event! We were lucky enough to listen to some amazing speakers on some incredibly helpful topics, and even got to break out into small groups to work on things such as our blog designs and media kits. Jennifer Lake talked about working with brands, Kelly in the City chatted about all of her favorite photography tips, and I learned all about my absolute favorite new podcast for female entrepreneurs: She Did It Her Way.

Hopefully they host a conference again soon. If they do, I highly recommend it! If you're in the Chicago area, you must join Windy City Bloggers. These ladies are truly wonderful and kind people. I'm truly lucky to be surrounded by a wonderful group of insightful and creative ladies.

  1. I really wanted to go to that event, but my grandfather's 80th bday party was the same day. Your outfit looks great, and I adore your hair color. I think that every time I see a photo of you. I especially love when it pops against cooler colors, like the navy in your outfit.
