Style Session: The Perfect Dress for Spring Weddings

Spring and summer are almost upon us (please come ASAP!), and you know what that means....wedding season. Last summer my boyfriend invited me to a wedding of one of his family members. It was a big deal because while I had met his close family several times, this was my first time meeting his (very large) extended family. I wanted to dress to impress, but still stay cool in the Texas summer heat. This year we already have so many weddings we are supposed to attend, so I wanted to get a jump on things. Luckily, I was able to find the perfect dress for spring weddings...

Standing in front of a brick building. Floral paisley printed dress in pink, purple, blue, and a white base. Kate Spade pink bow belt. Cobalt blue open toed heels.

And the best part is... the dress is on sale (and an additional 60% off)!

The pretty floral pattern in pastel colors are what really drew me to this dress. I absolutely love how it fades out into the solid white bottom. But ultimately, I was sold on the cut of the dress. I love the strong shoulders, small vneck, and pencil skirt style bottom. It's incredibly flattering and comfortable to move around in. For me, those are two of the most important things I look for in a good dress for a wedding. I like to move around and dance at weddings (who doesn't!?), but I still want to look sophisticated. The cut of this dress helps to balance those two. I look "put together", but not rigid.

I wanted to add a little detail to the waist line to help break up the busyness of the pattern. Luckily my pink Kate Spade bow belt was the perfect little addition. Since the dress is patterned, I chose to go with a simple solid color shoe. But I wanted to pull out one of the colors in the dress that wasn't overly prominent...blue. The dress pattern has soft blue petals in it, but it's definitely not the main focus. By adding it some cobalt blue heels, I was able to draw out the blue color in the dress and really make those subtle details pop! So, if you're looking for a good summer/spring dress for all of those fabulous weddings, look no further. I still can't believe that this dress ends up being less than $40 on sale after you apply the promo code!
