Winter in Chicago is all about layers, layers, layers! Ponchos are perfect for layering and this neutral brown and black one is perfect for putting together with other layering pieces. It helps you stay warm, but also looks chic. Who wouldn't want that?
I started with this grey shift dress from Forever21. The light gray color almost looks chambray. I added a white cable knit cardigan over that, and then ended with the poncho.
I also put on some cream colored cable knit over the knee socks to wear over my tights. I had them peeking out a little bit above my boots. I feel like it made the look seem even cozier.
(ps: these tights are fleece lined and SO WARM!)
Finally, I tied it altogether with a small brown rope belt to help give some shape to the layers. I left the back of the poncho untied so that I still could easily move around (since I was working at the popup shop) without any problems. I pulled the cardigan out a little bit to make sure that you could see every single layer I was wearing. It's like a fun fashion cake!
