DIY: How to make a gold bar tray

As some of you already know, I love bar carts. I mean I might as well be Donald Daper as much I love messing with my home bar cart...well without the drinking problem. Anyways...I've been doing a lot of DIY projects in my home lately trying to keep everything super cute while not breaking the bank. Besides, who wants a carbon copy of everything anyway?

This tray project is one of my favorites thus far! Not only does it look chic and expensive, but it only took 20 minutes and $10 to make!

Materials you need:
- A basic tray (I got mine at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $3!! So naturally, I bought 2.)
- Gold leaf paint ( I used Liquid Leaf in classic gold)
- Paint primer (or white paint)
- Soft bristle paint brush

Step 1: Paint the entire tray white (not fully pictured). I used a white paint primer. The gold leaf paint doesn't work all that well directly on the tray. The leaf jar recommends you paint with a white base coat to make the leaf show up better.

Step 2: Paint on the gold leaf liquid using a soft bristle brush. It dries VERY QUICKLY so don't just let it sit. You also only need one coat. It shows up really well and covers completely.

Step 3: Let it dry.

Step 4: Decorate it with all sorts of cuties! You can purchase all of my bar cart related art prints here.
